I’m Debra, the photographer behind Debra Gail Fine Art. I’ve always been drawn to quiet places—an old barn under an open sky, prairie grasses in the sunlight, or wildlife moving through the Flint Hills.
These are the places where I slow down, look a little closer, and often stay longer than I planned. Through my photographs, I share what catches my eye and hope others will pause to notice as well.
Drawn to the Prairie
Living in Kansas, I find inspiration in the beauty around me. The Flint Hills and the American West offer so much to photograph, from rolling pastures and grazing cattle to old windmills and weathered buildings.
I’m drawn to their character—the texture of old wood, the changing light on a hillside, and the quiet under a wide sky. My work comes from those details and the feelings they inspire.
From Photograph to Finished Art
Each piece begins with a photograph I’ve taken and a scene that mattered to me. I bring the same care to the finished artwork, keeping the details and mood that first caught my attention. The reclaimed barnwood framing adds another connection to the places in my photographs. Built one at a time, these frames bring their own history, texture, and character to the artwork.
